After a long pause, here I am back on my journey to take on the new wave of ‘Digitial Revolution.’
During these past many months the one word called ‘Digital Transformation’ has become the mission & vision of every organization, business, technology, and industry.

Let us try to understand what is this ‘Digital Transformation’ – In a layman’s term is a conceptualization of “going paperless,” which impacts both the individual businesses and the entire segments of the society in whole such as individuals, government, technology, art, science, mass communication, etc.

This digital evolution of going paperless is driven by Internet of Things (IoT) whose primary objective is to transform the way how daily life functions by enabling to build Smart Cities and Smart Enterprises. Although these transformations are catching up at the speed of light, I still see the challenge with the technology players in this field.

Right from the beginning one of the crucial bottle-neck which I am trying to highlight in my blogs is that the Industry must bring together their core competency for creating the revolutionary and game-changing technology/solution which will propel the vision of becoming digitalised or everything connected.

For, e.g., SAP has become one of those early players in the game to launch their ‘digital innovation system called ‘Leonardo,’ and bring the other next-generation technologies like machine learning (ML), artificial intelligence (AI), big data, advanced analytics, 3D printing, and blockchain under it. SAP Leonardo is a collection of software and services that organizations can use to develop digital transformation applications.

Similarly, I firmly believe that for any digital innovation it just not the technologies that matter, but the design thinking methodologies which help the users to uncover all the major requirements and allow them to build applications to maximize the ROI. This digital evolution is possible by embracing some of the following key trends as described by Forbes:

  1. Social Media – Growing Importance of User-Experience
  2. Connect from anywhere – Embrace the Remote workforce
  3. Gamification – Advent of augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR)
  4.  Multiple Platforms – Application program interfaces (API)
  5. Everything can be measured – Big Data & Analytics
  6. Estimated 50 billion IoT Sensors by 2020 – Digital transformation is driven by the Internet of Things (IoT)
  7. Machine Learning – Smart machines and artificial intelligence (AI) will replace major workforce.

To conclude, adaptability is vital to success than ever before. Change is going to happen and happening at an incredible speed whether one pursues it or not. The world is going through the digital transformation which is not only about the technology; it’s also about bringing together both the technology and culture of embracing change and becoming the change, that it can lead for an individual, organization and this entire nation.
