YouTube has revolutionised and transformed everything and has given the power to travel the world and be anywhere at any time with a single click. It has helped the talents to be discovered across the globe. YouTube provides a platform for people around the world to spread to incite real-time situations about what is happening in their countries. YouTube has changed the face of the entertainment world. Today, we spend hours on YouTube watching movies, shows, web-series, etc. all for free right within the comfort of your cosy home.

YouTube has disrupted the Education industry which never existed during my time. YouTube is the ocean of tutorials, lectures, and videos. If you want to learn or study about any subject, it is all there. YouTube has given birth to new concepts in the world of technology and to new businesses such as Unboxing – is the concept of unpacking of products, especially high tech consumer ones, where the process is captured on video and is uploaded on the internet. ASMRs (Autonomous Sensory Meridian Response) – These people make a living with bizarre videos that give users “braingasm.’ Maria whose last name is not disclosed for privacy reasons is arguably the queen of the YouTube channel Gentle Whispering ASMR genre.

YouTube is a paradise for gamers. A multi-billion dollar Industry which attacked the biggest market of the millennials by making gaming-inspired content available in abundance. PewDiePie, whose channel is comprised mainly of gameplay commentary, news, etc. has racked up over 76 million subscribers with approx 4.5 billion views. YouTube has opened doors for a new stream of business for Vloggers (Video Bloggers). YouTube is instrumental for providing this platform for bringing out the best creative and talent pool around the world and has led to the birth of many incredible YouTube Stars.

YouTube launched – YouTube Red which is a subscription-based service for YouTube that removes ads from all videos you watch and allows you to stream music and music videos without any ads. YouTube Red will enable you to watch videos offline and listening to videos with the screen off. It is compelling if you are a frequent traveller.

However, personally, for me, YouTube has shrunk the gap of physically attending any technology events that take place across the globe. At times due to the financial and time constraints, it might not be possible for us to attend the conferences or events that are organised in different parts of the world. However, YouTube has made it possible for us to be able to do a live stream of any event sitting right from our desk. Whatever that we wish to know we can search on YouTube and lo! it is all there. It has also enabled us to connect, engage, and communicate with whomsoever that we wish to and express our opinions, comment or seek answers to our questions. Marques K Brownlee also known as ‘MKBHD’ an American YouTuber is best known for his Technology focused videos. His channel name is a concatenation of his initials – MKB and HD for high-definition has over 7.4 million subscribers and over 1 billion total video views. He was also recognised as one of the best Technology reviewers on the planet.

YouTube has transformed the way people collaborate and communicate with each other. Right from Video logging, Gaming, News, Entertainment, Music, Politics, Travel, Technology, and Businesses, it has become the single largest platform where people connect, collaborate and communicate at large. The Web 2.0 platform has definitely become a game-changer in the history of any social media platforms. Google’s vision to acquire YouTube for $1.65 billion is the smartest investment ever made.
